Calcium oxide and hydrochloric acid
Salt water swimming pools can be a joy to swim in, and can provide many hours of relaxation and fun. They can also make major travel points of interest, such as Phoenix, Arizo…na, even more enjoyable for guests. But, salt pools are not necessarily right for everyone. Before you decide whether or not to install a salt pool in your hotel or guest house, or before you decide to stay someplace offering such a pool, you should understand the basic workings of these pools.Salt water swimming pools are pools that do not use chlorine to eliminate harmful microbes within the water. Instead, they use salt. When a person throws salt into the pool, the salt water is pumped through a filter. As that water travels through the filter, the filter's electrodes divide the salt molecules into their component parts, sodium and chlorine. The process of splitting these salt molecules serves to clean the water.A salt pool offers a number of benefits over chlorine. Salt is cheaper to buy than chlorine, and it's safer to store. Salt water is also much easier on human skin than chlorine. Some swimmers find that chlorine dries their skin after a while and makes them itchy. It can also make eyes burn and turn them red. Salt water, in contrast, can have therapeutic effects on people who suffer from chronic conditions of the skin.Salt water is noncorrosive. That means that it will not fade the colors of swimwear or damage swimming pool materials the way that chlorine can. Chlorine is corrosive, as it forms a compound called hypochlorous acid, an acid that can go through cell walls, combine with cellular cytoplasmic protein, and injure cells in the process. For that reason, swallowing chlorine can be harmful to the human body. Salt water, on the other hand, presents no such danger.Salt pools cost more than traditional pools do, and converting a pool that uses chlorine into a salt pool is expensive. Generally, a salt filter costs between one and two thousand dollars. Also, salt water often has a pH higher than the level that's healthy for humans to swim in. Therefore, you have to test samples of your pool's water more often with a salt system...
